Corinthians 12:9 (New American Standard Bible)
9And He has said to me, “My
grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most
gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power
of Christ may dwell in me.
Everyone has an area of
weakness. The Apostle Paul fought such a battle and prayed for deliverance. The
answer he received was not what he had expected.
What a wonderful truth
is found here. God’s miraculous power is revealed through our weakness. We all
have great limitations. God has none. He does not depend upon our strength or
abilities. God is not waiting for us to become perfect. Our perfection is found
in the righteousness of Christ.
We are to become a
channel for the power of Christ to minister through us.
Our inability is really
an opportunity to glorify God. He is not dependent upon our strength to do his
work. God reveals his love and grace to us, enabling us to do the impossible.
When we can’t function, He can. And He
does it by channeling his ability through us, accomplishing the impossible.
We want more of God’s
power. Paul was able to declare “Look at me! There is no way that I can
function in my situation, Yet God does all these things regardless of my
inability.” As we acknowledge our weakness and walk in obedient faith, we shall
do exploits in the name of our God.
Let us remember!
Israel’s great victories came when she walked in righteousness before the Lord
and declared her dependence upon Him. She conquered great nations with a small
army. She caused all the peoples around her to acknowledge that she served the
Almighty God. None dared come against her. Israel’s strength was the power of
God.
The God of Israel will
also establish his power through us as we become yielded to his purpose. Let us
walk in His grace, that His power might be made known through our weakness.
Rejoice! God has not changed! Face the day with confidence! Walk in faith! He shall be glorified and you shall have victorious ministry.
